Turning complex IoT security into a brand investors understood

Rebranding, product architecture, and a full Next.js rebuild that helped an IoT security startup clarify its offering, build credibility, and secure funding multiple times.

Scurid builds IoT security infrastructure using digital identities. Pioneering technology, but their website told a different story. The existing site was an early in-house build that looked dated, failed to explain the product, and didn't reflect the caliber of what was being developed. Every pitch started from scratch because prospects and investors arrived with no understanding of what Scurid actually made. In a category with no visual precedents to borrow from, the founders needed a team that could understand the technology well enough to translate it for everyone else.

We proposed a three-phase engagement, each spanning roughly two months. That gave Scurid control over budget and risk while letting the strategy sharpen as we learned the product. Phase one delivered a new logo and landing page. It also surfaced a key insight: complex visuals weren't simplifying complex ideas, they were adding noise. So we reversed the approach, designing a custom icon system and building LottieFiles animations that broke dense concepts into clear, engaging sequences. We restructured Scurid's entire product range (confusingly similar names, no obvious hierarchy) into a branded architecture that finally made the offering legible. The frontend runs on Next.js with hybrid rendering: SSG for product pages, CSR for user dashboards, and a gRPC integration to their existing backend.

Scurid secured funding multiple times during and after the engagement, from both private and government sources. The founders pointed directly to the new digital presence as a contributing factor. More importantly, prospects started arriving to conversations already understanding the product. The team identified with their own brand for the first time. What began as a six-month rebuild became an ongoing collaboration that continues years later.
